In the short term I would hope to take on a management role. I want to expand my leadership skills to better lead and understand a team. I have had experience leading a team in my academic career with multiple different school projects where I have had to take lead and work with my peers to make sure the job is done effectively and efficiently. Along with my academic experience I have also had the opportunity to be a part of a mentoring program that was sponsored by Target to learn leadership building activities with a group of my peers. With my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Apparel Merchandising and Management I have been able to learn management skills along with different managerial techniques that include organization, communication and presentation skills. Working for a global brand will hopefully help me expand my managerial skills not only for the domestic consumer but the global consumer as well.

In the long term I would hope to be working for a global company that has the same values as I do of customer service and quality in service/ product. Along with this I would like to have a digital creator position that can include marketing, or content creating. I am very interested in marketing and in creating content in the benefit of not only the company but the consumer as well. I would hope to be able to be a part of a team of hardworking individuals that can help create something that would be able to touch consumers globally! I have had experience leading a small team of content creators when I held the role as Content Creator chairman for “AMMA” and being the Public Relations/ Marketing Liaison for Apparelscapes I want to work for a company that has the ability to think globally and work in an ever-evolving environment that will challenge my skills.
Experiences at Cal Poly Pomona
My experience at Cal Poly Pomona has definitely been unforgettable. Throughout my years I have made strong connections not only with my peers but as well as my professors. Not only have I acquired skills that I never thought I could or would need I have also learned how to conduct myself in a professional environment that has surely helped me in the work field.
The Apparel Merchandising and Management community is one I definitely am and will forever be close with. Not only did I call them my home for four and a half years but it was also a place of education and readiness. The staff helped me prepare myself to the best of their ability to be prepared for the next chapter in my professional career. Along with preparing me with a variety of skills the Apparel Merchandising and Management team also let me notice areas where I am strong in along with also noticing the areas where I could use help in. They helped me strengthen myself in a safe and encouraging environment and continue to be a great support in the development of my professional dreams.
How do I want to grow as a person?
As an individual I always want to be evolving. I never want to stay complicit in one position because of how simple or convenient it is. I want to be able to feel confident when it comes to taking on more responsibilities and trust in my skills that I equipped to handle the task. Along with strengthening my current skills I would want to be able to obtain new skills to be ever-changing in this fast pace environment we call the fashion industry. For example, I have dedicated time to develop skills that will help me in my future dreams as a content creator such as creative writing, planning content and copywriting skills. I have done this by partnering up with creators to assist in planning photoshoots, and planned posts to blogs/ social media outlets. I want to be able to challenge myself along with challenging others to be the best versions of ourselves as possible. Along with strengthening my own person and helping my peers do the same will help me understand what it means to be both a team player and a team leader.
